Review about I Love Kickboxing Chantilly
I have been holding off on writing this review so that I could give a fair and honest assessment of the ILKB –Chantilly team and the ILKB Program in general. So, here it is: I have been a member for about half a year, and regardless of whether I’m going in every day (like at the beginning of my membership) or just going in when I can (currently due to my crazy work schedule) this ILKB Team always makes me feel welcome and like it’s more of a community rather than a gym. LIKE: I enjoy the repetitive workout format with warm ups, bag work, then team work so I sort of know what’s coming. But they change up exactly what exercise or part of our body we’re working on that day and it keeps me interested and not feeling like I’m playing a DVD for the billionth time. I absolutely adore the music blasting over the speakers during the workout so that I could really zone in on what I’m doing and block out everyone else. But that might not be for everybody. The different playlists that each team member plays for their workouts really shows you their personality, so if you do back to back classes, or a morning and evening class, though the workout is the same, it feels different. DISLIKE: If you’re looking to do ACTUAL kickboxing and learn ACTUAL kickboxing techniques to defend yourself or with the goal of one day getting in the ring this is definitely not the gym for you. This franchises focus is much more on the cardiovascular benefits of kickboxing. The teachers are also pretty hands off, if they see you doing a move in a way that you might hurt yourself they will correct your form. But if you’re looking for some ‘one-on-one/in-your-face’ coaching, or someone to come by and give you tips on how to get more power out of your kick or punch you should look elsewhere. If you’re still not sure if this is the right place for you to sweat it out, just wait until one of their MANY promotions (usually around holidays) throughout the year to get a deeper discount on the 3 class trial period and free gloves. I think that right after I joined they dropped their price from $20 to $10 for Thanksgiving.
