Review about Atrium Health
I have been a patient at Mecklenburg Medical Group under the care of Dr. Caroline Pierce. Dr. Pierce is a good doctor, however the practice and her direct staff of nurses are subpar. I have been going to this practice for 1.5 years and in that time her staff has not handled my prescriptions correctly (they forget to give them to me, they get mixed up about what they need to request for refill, etc.). Not to mention, if you call in for a refill (which they permit you to do) it can take 4 or 5 days before you hear from anyone and by that time I am out of my medicine. However, my reason for finally writing this review has to do with timing of my appointment. I had an 8:45 am appt. I pulled into their garage at the BB&T Center at approximately 8:35 am (due to an accident in route to my Uptown). I drove 5 floors four times to find a parking space. When I arrived in the office for check in it was 8:50 (5 minutes late for my appointment). I stood in line for 10 minutes waiting to be checked in. When I finally got to the front desk it was just before 9 am. The girl called back and was told that the doctor could not see me because I was late and I would have to reschedule for noon today or they could see if another doctor had time to see me. I said, so you mean I wait 10 minutes to get checked in, 10 minutes for a nurse to come get me, 15 to 20 minutes for the doctor to come in the exam room and then another 20 to 25 minutes for a nurse to refill my meds and get my bloodwork paperwork together for a lab that is in your office. She said, I'm sorry I'm just the messenger. So it appears that the doctor finds it feasible to turn a patient away who is 15 minutes late, but they can keep you away from work for essentially an hour or longer and that is acceptable. There is something wrong with that way of thinking. Needless to say, I will not be going back to this medical practice and hopefully they will not try to charge me for a missed appointment. Somehow, I think there is something wrong in their way of thinking. Just wanted to let you know what you may deal with going to the practice.
