My car was stolen and then recovered a week later at a crime scene, after a prolonged police chase. The body and the interior was damaged, including up under the car. The motor had burnt oil and the tires had flat spots. GIO insisted the car was not a total lose and that it would be repaired. I have now been without my car for almost 4 months and GIO will not provide me with documentation guaranteeing the safety of the car nor the mechanics for when I do get the car back. Apparently it is not a requirement under my policy. GIO carry on about their 'life time guarantee on all repairs, don't bee fooled! This guarantee means nothing if your car has been stolen and thrashed around. My car is only two years old and I am devastated. GIO has no respect for 'duty of care'. I have spent days on the phone trying to track where my car is and why it is taking so long. As the insured you have no rights, GIO can take as long as they like to repair your car. I have been told that some people have waited 12 months!
