Review about Alan Swindall
My wife and I saw Alan for a few years surrounding some stressful events that often happen in military life. Initially Alan was helpful in couples counseling. However, he made suggestions to me individually that were not in line with our Christian views. He also sent emails to me with articles suggesting legal separation and divorce! ? This was also based on a conversation that he and I had without my wife present. While Alan was helpful initially, he was not helpful towards the end. Luckily we are still together and are relationship is going strong. We quit seeing him and started going to church. Alan would contradict himself often by giving individual advice that was not in line with our couples counseling. He would repeat sayings that Dr. Phil says when it was to prove a point. But at other times he would say something completely different. It didn’t feel like he was genuine in times that he would use catch phrases and quotes as if we were simple minded. I would not suggest seeing this therapist if your marriage is in trouble. I would suggest getting references from people you go to church with and people who have used a therapist. To be fair Alan was helpful at times but we received our help by our faith. Luckily we didn’t listen to his advice about separation. Or should I say lucky I did not take his email that was addressed to me (my wife was not included) that suggested separation.
